Welcome to the Kaze Cloud tutorial page.
The first step is to sign up for an Amazon.com S3 storage account. Visit the website and click on the
sign up button.
After signing up you'll receive 2 keys which serve as security credentials.
You will need both of these keys in order to use the Kaze Cloud admin. application. Be sure to keep the Secret Access Key a secret. Your keys are NOT transmitted by Kaze Cloud and Kaze Cloud stores the keys in its internal database in an encrypted format.
After you have received your S3 keys open the Kaze Cloud configuration window and enter the keys where specified.
If you are evaluating Kaze Cloud you do not need to enter a license key.
You are now ready to create your first Kaze Cloud.
- Provide a meaningful name like "files from ACME".
- You can optionally configure the cloud to expire on a given date. After this date the client application will no longer allow files in the Kaze Cloud to be accessible, except by you.
- You can also optionally restrict the size of the Kaze Cloud. A value of 0 indicates there is no restriction.
- The comments section is for you to leave yourself notes about this Kaze Cloud. The comments are seen only by you.
After the Kaze Cloud has been created the window will expand to show the instructions you need to send to the person you wish to share files with.
You will notice there is a text area containing instructions for the Kaze Cloud recipient. You should copy and paste these instructions into an email to the person you want to share files with.
There is more information about using the Kaze Cloud client application below.
After creation of the Kaze Cloud a folder image will appear in the main workspace. You can drag and drop
files onto this folder to upload them to the cloud.
When you put your mouse pointer over the folder you
will see a red 'X' icon which when clicked will delete the Kaze Cloud and all of the files in it.
If you double click on the folder you can view and change the details of the Kaze Cloud you have created.
As you can see in the screenshot there is a list of files that have been uploaded into the Kaze Cloud either by yourself or recipients of the pass key associated with this Kaze Cloud.
For each file in the list there are two icons, a red 'X' which will remove the file from the Kaze Cloud and a black arrow which when clicked will download the file to your computer.
Also take notice of the 'Active' checkbox. By unchecking this and saving the Kaze Cloud you can deactivate the cloud until such time that you decide to reactivate it by checking the box again.
Kaze Cloud client tutorial
The first step for your recipient is to download the Kaze Cloud client application.
When the application is first launched the you are prompted to enter the pass key generated by the Kaze Cloud admin. application.
After entering the pass key, the Kaze Cloud is accessible and any files in the cloud can be seen and are available for download. More files can be added by dragging and dropping files onto the cloud image. These files will be visible in the Kaze Cloud admin application. In this way files can be shared between the user of the Kaze Cloud admin. application and Kaze Cloud clients using the appropriate pass key. The Kaze Cloud client application is capable of accessing multiple Kaze Clouds created by different people.
As you can see it is very easy to exchange files with others using Kaze Cloud.
